Melianthus major: watercolour painting by Kay Craig, 1994 [11 of 17]
Melianthus major
This shrubby plant from South-Africa has wonderfully architectural foliage and flowers. It grows up to 3 metres in my garden and the leaves when crushed, have a strong smell of peanut butter. This was the first painting I ever exhibited and was bought by a doctor from Los Angeles. I hope he is still enjoying it.
