Tulipa saxatilis: watercolour painting by Kay Craig, 1994 [9 of 17]
Tulipa saxatilis
I loved painting this tulip as the colours are so beautiful. It is a native of Crete and western Turkey and is mentioned as far back as 1606 by the world's first and foremost tulip "groupie" - Clusius. Once established it multiplies well and is lovely in pots or the rock garden.
